Target 1: Strong legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks in place for achieving EAF

  • Indicator 1: Number of CT6 countries with a national policy that harmonize existing laws and policy framework supporting EAFM
  • Indicator 2: Number and area (in sq. km) of fisheries management units with operational EAF frameworks and enforcement in place.

Target 2: Improved income, livelihoods and food security of people in coastal communities across the region through a sustainable coastal fisheries and poverty reduction initiative (“COASTFISH”)

  • Indicator 1: Annual per capita food thresholds of coastal communities
  • Indicator 2: Annual per capita poverty threshold / poverty incidence of coastal communities
  • Indicator 3: Per capita consumption of fish

Target 3: By 2020, effective measures in place to ensure exploitation of shared tuna stocks is sustainable, with tuna spawning areas and juvenile growth stages adequately protected

  • Indicator 1: Number and type of supportive national policies, laws, agreements, or regulations adopted on allowable size and catch limits for tuna species, on temporal closings, on IUU fishing, on catch per unit effort, bycatch reduction, trade and market policies, fish aggregating devices.
  • Indicator 2: Number of sites and area (sq. km.) covered by legal protection designations and seasonal closings to fishing activities that specifically target tuna spawning grounds and juvenile growth areas
  • Indicator 3: Conservation status of tuna species based on the IUCN-Red List criteria assessment

Target 4: A more effective management and more sustainable trade in live-reef fish (LRF) and reef-based ornamentals achieved

  • Indicator 1: Number /type of national policies, laws, agreements, regulations or management plans adopted on live reef fish and ornamentals trade consistent with the “international standards”
  • Indicator 2: Number and area (sq km) of locally managed areas for live reef fish trade and other reef based fisheries including the protection and management of spawning aggregations
  • Indicator 3: Number of key “demand” countries that adopt live-reef food and ornamental fish supply-to-consumption standards agreed upon by CT6 countries
  • Indicator 4: Conservation status of targeted reef fish species based on the IUCN-Red List criteria assessment
