Malaysian National Ocean Policy 2011-2020

The draft Malaysia Ocean Policy 2011-2020 outlined in this Progress Report Two (see Appendix One) interprets the six National Key Results Areas, outlined in the Government Transformation Programme, the National Key Economic Areas of the Economic Transformation Programme and economic reforms in the New Economic Model as they apply specifically to the marine and coastal geographic area, ocean governance and marine industries. Consistently with the Tenth Malaysia Plan, the draft Ocean Policy embraces a more focused role for Government as a regulator and catalyst while harnessing the creativity, energy and initiative of the private sector as the primary driver of Malaysia’s growth aspirations.
